Executive Director, Plumbing Foundation
April M. McIver, Esq. is the Executive Director of the Plumbing Foundation City of New York, Inc. At the Plumbing Foundation, she drafts legislation, testifies on behalf of the industry at legislative and regulatory hearings, investigates unlicensed plumbing activities, and represents the plumbing industry at NYC Department of Buildings meetings, including as a representative on the Existing Building Code Administrative and Enforcement Committee. April was also integral in creating the Gas Operator Qualification program for NYC plumbers. Of her recent accomplishments, she drafted legislation passed by the New York City Council which now requires more stringent qualification and experience criteria for persons inspecting, cleaning, coating, and painting water tanks.
April began her career working in government relations and public policy in January 2010 at the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Political Action Fund. She also worked at the government relations and law firm Cordo & Company from June 2011 to September 2016, where she represented a diverse list of clients in industries throughout the state. In addition, April worked as a public policy analyst for Success Academy Charter Schools, where she helped secure a federal grant of $6.3 million.
April graduated magna cum laude from Albany Law School and has a B.A. from the College of Saint Rose. She is a licensed attorney in New York State and sits as secretary of the New York City Bar Association’s Government Ethics and State Affairs Committee.
